Core temperature regulation across Scottish hills in wet weather, breathable when working hard.
Reinforced heel and toe construction built to survive repeated abrasion and rough descents.
Active moisture management on long days where sweat management and airflow matter most.
Fit retention through full-day movement, preventing bunching or equipment interference.
Designed to stay locked in place inside stiff hill boots through long days on the move. No bunching, no slipping.
Placed across the instep where heat builds during long ascents, improving airflow and moisture release.
Seam-free toe construction reduces friction, pressure points and rubbing during repeated descents.
Ergonomic Y-Gore heel construction creates a secure anatomical fit that prevents movement and hot spots.
Structured midfoot compression provides added stability and support over uneven terrain and long-distance movement.
Targeted cushioning at key impact zones absorbs repeated pressure from rocky trails and hard descents.
Built in Scotland. For Scotland.
We are Scottish hillwalkers. We have stood in the same saturated bog, crossed the same wet granite, and finished the same long descents wondering why our feet felt so beaten up.
Over the years we tried plenty of outdoor socks. Some were good. Some were very good. But none of them felt like they had been built specifically for the conditions we spend most of our time walking in.
Scottish hillwalking places its own demands on equipment. Constant moisture, bog, rock, long days underfoot, and weather that can change within the hour. Yet most outdoor socks are designed for a much broader audience and a much broader range of environments.
The Saltire Cairn is our response to that. The merino blend, the reinforcement zones, the cushioning, the arch support, and the overall construction were all shaped by the conditions we know best — because they are the conditions we walk in ourselves.
We didn't set out to make another hiking sock. We set out to build one for Scotland.
— Taylor & Richard · Cairnova founders
Cairnova is a small Scottish company making its first product. We are not backed by investors or built on a marketing budget. We are two hillwalkers who decided to build something that did not exist. The people who join the founding list are the reason this gets made. Be one of them.
